William Grant & Sons currently have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Wood and Warehouse Leader to join our Bellshill site. The role is responsible for all long-term wood planning, cask management and warehouse use (both internal and external) on behalf of our Stocks Business Unit.

- Develop and manage the on-going Wood planning throughout the year, ensuring the most efficient use of casks across the network and long-term sustainability.
- Provide instructions to the OBU and the WG&S-owned cooperages / wood compounds to ensure on-going supply of quality refill wood.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of SBU-owned warehouses and support OBU teams as necessary to ensure quality and effectiveness of assets are maximised.
- Oversee cooperage costs and performance, monitoring progress against agreed plans and driving an optimal balance between cost/quality.
- Manage commercial arrangements with external warehousing locations in case required to ensure best quality and price, working with the Inventory Planner to continuously review and minimise transport and usage of external warehouses
- Work with the OBU and outside cooperages to develop and review plans for stock movements / transport, aiming to limit inventory risk and minimise the need to move wood between sites.
- Own the holistic view of wood stocks across the network, developing cask tracking data and analysing cask lifecycle to increase efficiencies, overseeing and controlling cask write offs and managing the disposal or sale of (scrap) wood after end-of-life.
- Review and develop the use and storage of casks in line with specifications and the Company CSR policies to increase sustainability and long-term efficiency.

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of the operation and management of Warehouse operations and Cooperages and an understanding of the technical specifications and lifecycles of casks. They should also have an aptitude for the commercial aspects of Wood and Warehouse management, and an ability to look for long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills are required as well as experience of managing budgets and commercial relationships to maximise performance and efficiency.
