Staff Accountant

Job Introduction

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Staff Accountant to assist with executing daily and monthly accounting activities related to the recording and reconciliation of activity on the balance sheet and general ledger. In this role, you will ensure the credibility and accuracy of our various accounts, including assistance with excise tax filings and intercompany transactions. Our ideal candidate will be able to work within the Accounting team and cross functionally with Marketing Finance, Commercial Finance, Operations and Customer Relations to ensure overall reporting accuracy.  

Main Responsibility

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for completing month-end postings for general accounting, marketing and commercial finance according to established policy.  Alongside the Accounting Director, you will also ensure the General Ledger is accurate and reconciled correctly. The Staff Accountant will assist the Accounting team with tax filings, expense tracking, intercompany transactions and monthly reporting.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have proven analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, a positive attitude and will need to be comfortable communicating and interacting with members in the wider Finance team.  

Skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with G/L and financial accounting.
  • Experience in balance sheet analysis along with related P/L accounts
  • Familiarity with company accounting & reporting processes and systems
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, formatting, charting, pivot tables and reporting).
  • Experience in Accounting Practices up to and including Trial Balance.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and proven analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivator with high attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree necessary
  • Master’s or CPA a plus
