Process Safety Support Engineer

Job Introduction

We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Process Safety Support Engineer to join us to support the promotion of the highest levels of process safety management and loss prevention across our sites, consistent with legal requirements and our internal engineering standards.

*two positions available one in Dufftown and the other in Girvan

Main Responsibility

  • Coordinate internal process safety projects ensuring each site is fully compliant in all areas of process safety.
  • Advise and support internal stakeholders on process safety matters and participate as required with the planning of projects, conducting internal reviews in order to assess risks, processes and controls in place and identify opportunities for improvement in line with relevant process safety requirements.
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of process safety tools, processes and interventions including risk management frameworks, change management process and audit methodologies.
  • Provide clear and concise technical project reports that detail conclusions and recommendations based on tangible technical data to the UK & Ireland Safety Leader and other key stakeholders.
  • When required, lead or participate in process safety related incident investigations.
  • Contribute appropriately to team meetings and support the implementation of team strategy, plans and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and build skills, knowledge and experience in process safety engineering that covers the WGS spirit drinks portfolio.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience of applying process safety on COMAH sites
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Understanding of major accident hazard identification and risk assessment techniques
  • Investigation of process safety related accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Computer literacy – Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
