Are you a proactive Infrastructure Engineer with experience working autonomously and as part of a wider team? Would you like to contribute to the continued success of the largest family-owned Whisky distillery in Scotland, responsible for iconic brands including: Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Hendricks Gin, and Reyka Vodka?

William Grant & Sons are looking for a driven Operations Infrastructure Engineer to join our established Infrastructure team, based in Cumbernauld, on a Hybrid basis. This is a key role in our organisation, where you will join a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining our global infrastructure estate. The successful candidate will play a vital role in our ongoing transition to Azure. As a crucial member of our IT department, you will be at the forefront of managing and optimising our infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and support the growth of our organisation.

Rollenverantwortung

As an Operations Infrastructure Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain our organisation's IT infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our systems. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Server Management: Administer and maintain servers globally, both physical and virtual, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
  2. Storage Management: Implement and manage storage solutions to accommodate the organization's data growth, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  3. Virtualisation: Work with VMWare to optimise utilisation and provide scalable and flexible infrastructure solutions.
  4. Cloud Integration: Manage and maintain our Azure infrastructure and enterprise applications.
  5. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
  6. Monitoring and Performance Optimisation: Implement monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues. Optimise system performance and resource utilisation.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various IT initiatives, including software deployments, upgrades, and new technology integrations.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.

 

*Please note that this role will be required to take part in an on-call rota*

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills. Key qualifications include:

  1. Technical Proficiency: Solid experience in infrastructure management with expertise in server technologies, networking, and storage solutions.
  2. Virtualisation Skills: Familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
  3. Problem Solving: Adept at analysing complex issues and implementing effective solutions. Proactive in identifying and addressing potential challenges.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  5. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing business requirements.
  6. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or certifications in virtualisation technologies are desirable.
  7. Technologies: VEEAM, ZERTO, Nimble Storage, VMWare, Windows Infrastructure Stack, Azure, SolarWinds, NetScaler
