NPD Project Manager - Asia

The Opportunity

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a packaging development expert with Project Management experience to join our team in Shanghai to Lead local Asia Luxury new product developments for William Grant & Sons.  The developments centre around luxury secondary packaging and primary pack embellishments for Asia Specific markets.  

The ideal candidate

You will have a proven track in technical delivery of packaging projects. You will understand supplier print and material technologies to deliver the quality requirements of luxury packaging. 

Main Responsibility

What you’ll be doing 

  • You’ll be developing luxury packaging components for high end gifting of scotch whiskies using materials ranging from carton board, rigid board, wood, metal and plastics.
  • You’ll be working closely with our Asia based Marketing, Supply Chain, procurement and quality representatives to deliver brand aligned regional gifting and packaging initiatives.
  • Project managing all aspects of material development, aligning quality standards conducting testing and trialling, and overseeing re-pack operations. 
  • Ensuring that the final product is developed within the defined NPD process and delivered ‘fit for purpose’ to Asia market aspirations, on-time and within budget.
  • Leading cross functional teams to deliver your projects. 
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (Global Brand Directors, Brand Innovation Managers, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Material Control, Supply Partners and Re-pack facilities.). 

About You

  • 5+ years of project management experience in packaging, production or supply chain, preferably in a FMCG environment
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, specifically print technologies,  carton board, rigid board, wood, metal and plastics.
  • Excellence in leading change initiatives end to end to strict timescales.
  • Demonstratable experience in risk assessment and budget management. 
  • Demonstrate drive and determination, innovative and well organized with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interface cross functionally with suppliers, manufacturing and with marketing stakeholders.
