IT Portfolio Manager

Job Introduction

At William Grant & Sons, we are looking for an experienced IT Portfolio Manager to establish, maintain and govern our enterprise-wide IT portfolio and multi-year portfolio plan within Group Technology Services. Working across our global business, you will provide a consolidated view of technology programmes, projects and major initiatives spanning central, market and site IT. You will ensure that technology investments are visible, prioritised, affordable and aligned with our business objectives, technology roadmap, architecture principles and financial plans.

 

Reporting to the Head of Security & Governance this is an influential role at the centre of technology planning and governance. You will enable effective investment decisions, improve transparency and help ensure that our technology portfolio delivers measurable business benefits.


Please note, this role requires 4 days in the office in Cumbernauld.

Main Responsibility

  • Own and maintain the end-to-end IT Portfolio Plan, ensuring alignment with business priorities, technology roadmaps, and financial plans.
  • Manage portfolio demand, prioritisation, investment planning, and budgeting processes across programmes, projects, and major initiatives.
  • Support portfolio governance forums and collaborate with stakeholders to manage dependencies, risks, and delivery priorities.
  • Produce portfolio reporting and dashboards covering progress, financial performance, risks, and benefits realisation.
  • Track and measure portfolio benefits, ensuring initiatives deliver tangible business value and strategic outcomes.
  • Provide clear, data-driven insights that enable informed decision-making and confidence among senior stakeholders.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in portfolio management, programme governance, strategic planning or investment management within complex technology or transformation environments. 
  • Strong analytical, financial, and commercial skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, prioritisation, and portfolio planning. 
  • Ability to manage risks, dependencies and competing priorities across multiple initiatives and stakeholders. 
  • Confident building relationships and influencing senior leaders, translating complex information into clear recommendations and decisions. 
  • Skilled in governance, reporting, workshop facilitation and executive-level communication. 
  • Experience working across global teams, functions or multi-site organisations would be beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of technology portfolios, enterprise architecture, transformation delivery, or portfolio management methodologies is advantageous. 
  • Relevant portfolio, programme, or project management qualifications are welcome but not essential.
