Group Accounting & Controls Team Leader

Job Introduction

Are you an experienced accountant with a background in controls and compliance?  As William Grant & Sons continues its global expansion, it requires a controls and compliance framework that matches the scale of ambition that we have.  We have a fantastic opportunity to work with our Group Finance Team to lead the way on developing and promoting a strong compliance and controls led framework across the global business, as our Group Accounting & Controls Team Leader.   

Main Responsibility

This role will help to evolve the existing financial controls framework to ensure we have designed an appropriate controls framework suitable to be applied as standard across the Group, that balances effectiveness with efficiency.  The role will also ensure we have a reporting framework in place to ensure the designed controls are operationally effective on a continuous basis. 

As control owner for many of the key centralised controls, this role will also be responsible for the re-design of centrally owned processes and controls, for example, our intercompany process, to ensure they are operating as efficiently and seamlessly as possible to support the new internal markets model that we have adopted. 

The role owner will work across the control owners around the Group to ensure that controls, such as capital approvals and balance sheet reconciliations, are being conducted to the required standard.

Day to day you will be managing a small team of three but working closely with the wider Group Finance Team as well as the wider global business. 

Our Ideal Candidate

A strong self-starter, you will be a proven team leader with experience of working in a controls-based environment.  A relevant accountancy qualification is a must.  You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders across the globe.  Experience of working within a manufacturing or FMCG business would be a benefit but is not essential.  Experience of managing change would also be a plus.   This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to make their first move into industry.
