Lead Internal Auditor

Job Introduction

The role of the Internal Audit function is to provide effective and efficient assurance to the Supervisory Board (via the Audit Committee), the Executive Committee and management concerning the adequacy of the internal control environment and the identification, assessment, and management of business risks. The Lead Internal Auditor supports this objective through leading the delivery of internal audit reviews, working alongside the Head of Internal Audit and coaching and developing capability in Internal Auditors. It is also necessary but also leading and delivering discrete audits, control assessments and risk projects.

Main Responsibility

You will be delivering internal audit reviews and projects in line with our annual Internal Audit Plan, covering all aspects of the WG&S Group and including the assessment of financial controls, operational processes, and regulatory aspects. You will take responsibility for the planning, scoping and completion of larger reviews, often supported by Internal Auditors, as well as the delivery of discrete audit reviews. Through engagement with stakeholders at all levels across the Group, you will define impactful recommendations that drive change and address risk, with clearly written reports of a high standard, and you will be responsible for tracking the status of audit actions maintaining contact with action owners to close audit points in a timely manner.

You will take an active role in developing the Internal Auditors within the function, building skills, knowledge and confidence and supporting their professional development through coaching and feedback. You will also play an active role to maintain the operation and evolution of the Internal Audit function, its methodologies, working practices and reporting, applying previous experience in a way that makes the function even more effective and better able to serve the needs of our stakeholders.

Our Ideal Candidate

You should be a qualified accountant or internal auditor, with extensive experience of leading concurrent audit project teams in a dynamic, complex and international business environment. You will have excellent knowledge of internal audit methodologies and testing strategies to provide assurance that controls and risks are being well managed, with a proven track record of leading, planning and delivering a range of audits or investigations into business processes or systems. You should be comfortable presenting your findings verbally and in written form, and holding tension where required to clearly articulate where risk might be present and where change is required. You should possess excellent financial acumen and be able to approach problems with pragmatism and curiosity, developing relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. If you have a second (or third) language, even better!

We are a function that supports the business and you should therefore be comfortable travelling, occasionally at short notice, and spending time with colleagues at sites and in markets and functions across the globe.
