Head of Health and Safety

Job Introduction

We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join us as our Head of Health & Safety, to ensure that appropriate systems and processes are developed and implemented such that the WGS& businesses globally are fully compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, and that the Group approach meets the wider business and industry sector requirements of best practice.

Main Responsibility

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include;

  • Refine, develop and implement the ongoing global approach for Occupational Safety and Process Safety, to ensure that the company meets and exceeds regulatory expectations and manages significant risk. Delivered through the evaluation of statistical data, trends and knowledge of corporate, industry and wider external good practice and developments in the field.
  • Lead and develop both the Distilling and Packaging compliance programs that are required to meet the relevant safety, process safety, ISO and internal standards. Ensure that the external audit processes e.g. ISO are value adding activities providing process improvements by comparison with external business best practice.
  • Establish uniform and consistent reporting mechanisms to evaluate effectiveness of the improvement plans and analyse the resulting performance.  Analyse, prioritise and communicate this performance at relevant forums co creating action plans to drive improvements, which will be reported at WGS Senior Leadership Team, Operations and Executive Boards.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be experienced in

Essential:

  • Degree Qualified or equivalent as a minimum with an Engineering or Science background a distinct advantage
  • Current understanding of safety legislation within UK and international setting
  • Safety Qualified to at least NEBOSH diploma level
  • Significant experience for detailed accident / incident investigation including reporting and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and Experience of ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, BRC, COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX and PSM
  • Managing multiple sites and a large stakeholder group
  • Experience of project management safety and construction safety
  • Computer Literacy – word, excel, PowerPoint, Q-Pulse

 

Desirable:

  • Environmental or energy engineering experience would be beneficial
